Shenzi was left at the shelter by her previous owners and when we spotted her there she was suffering from a really bad case of kennel cough, which didn’t help her prospects for adoption. In addition to the fact that she was sick, she had two other strikes against her – her color and her size. We know from experience that dogs with these characteristics have very little chance of making it out of the shelter alive. She is now completely healthy and is living in a foster home with many other dogs, and a cat. She truly is a joy to have around since she is incredibly well-mannered.
She is house-trained, can be left alone without being crated, does great in the car and loves to go for walks. She knows sit, down, and come. We have started to work with her off leash in the park. She also loves to give kisses, being brushed, and having her belly rubbed. She is not a high energy dog, and will do fine as long as she gets to go on a long walk every day.
Shenzi would make a great addition to just about any family due to her easy going nature. She is not interested in playing with the other dogs though, so she probably wouldn’t fit the mold of a doggy playmate.
